JADEN!

lets talk about a little boy named jaden...

he's a handful here lately! 

we recently moved and he's gotten to be even more of a handful! 

a few things that he's done in the 8 days we've lived at our new house:

-bit his sister

-peed down the laundry shoot...not funny!!

-sneaks in our bathroom & eats our toothpaste

-ate his toothpaste

i'm sure there's more i just can't think of anymore right now...

we try and cut him slack since there has be a lot of changes all at one time, but there's only so much you can give!

he's a constant play machine! he always wants his daddy playing with him. anytime he holds aspen, jaden will say give her back to mommy. he wants daddy all to himself!

he's still the cutest little boy in the world! i can't believe he will be 3 in 12 days!! 

life with two little ones

let me tell ya...it's not easy, yeah it takes longer to get somwhere or do something, but it's not as hard as everyone says it is. i dont know if i've just been so blessed to have two great and heathly babies or if i'm super mom..hehe(; i still shower everyday (even if baby cries the whole time), get some mommy time with my little boy and give the baby girl eveything she needs. i get everything done that i need to that day even if i have a fussy baby or 2(; i do have it easier than most stay at home moms...my hubby is a firefighter so hes home for 48hours and works 24. so he only works 2 or 3 days a week & he's a big help with jaden! i appreciate everything he does more than he thinks i do.

a little about mr. jaden

he just seems so grown up since he became a big brother. he loves to help take care of aspen, actually he likes to do it "all by myself'" as he says. he's very smart. you can't fool him as easy as you used to. i can't believe he's about to be THREE! he amazes me with something new everyday. don't get me wrong he's still a little stinker, but he sure is a cute one!

she's just growing up so fast. 6 weeks old already! whatttttt?! she definitely has made our life more interesting. she's the total opposite than jaden was as a baby, we've had some interesting days and nights trying to figure out what she wanted/needed. it's hard to try and keep her happy when she's awake. she doesnt like her bouncer, swing being on the floor on the couch...NOTHIN' you have to hold her. thats when she's happy. oh...and she's got to have her dang paci...great! :P she sleeps wonderful. thats what makes this mama calm...most of the time.

where to start?!

when i went to my dr's appt the 6th of september we got to pick a induction date. we picked september 12th! 9/12/12. good birthday date, huh? the 6 days went by pretty fast!

 

the night before we got everything ready to bring our baby girl HOME! we woke up at 3:30am to be there by 4:45. sooooooo early! we get there they get everything hooked up & i was dilated to a 5. they start the pitocin at about 8. at about 8:30 i get my epidural..i was in no pain by the way. hate me if you want to, thats just how i roll(; then dr. ogdee came and broke my water right after that & the prosses started going faster. i started feeling a pain in my bottom with every contraction...the nurse checked me and i was a 9 1/2 & 100%. she had me push a few times and i was a 10. our baby girl is almost here! after and few more pushes dr odgee came in our beautiful baby girl was here!

 jaden loved meeting his baby sister. he always wants to hold her, kiss her, hug her & he wants to do it all by himself! he's such a good big brother!!

 

we are very tired, but every minute is soooooooooo worth it!

 

today is my due date. and were blessed to have a 1 week old!<3

 

thirty-eight weeks

*baby girl has really plumped up. she weighs about 6.8 pounds and she's over 19 1/2 inches long (like a leek). She has a firm grasp, which you'll soon be able to test when you hold her hand for the first time! Her organs have matured and are ready for life outside the womb.

 

how far along:

*38 weeks.

 

symptoms:

*back ache. tired. miserable. x's100

 

sleep:

*whats sleep??

 

movement:

*she's still moving a lot. she's running out of room.

*my dr appt. tomorrow. wonder whats gonna happen...

 

best moment this week?

*having family come down. they were hoping that baby girl would come but she didnt! :-/

*baby girl is now considered full term! she weighs 6 1/3 pounds and measures a bit over 19 inches, head to heel (like a stalk of Swiss chard). 

how far along:

*37 weeks!

weight gain:

*28 pounds...she needs to come out before I hit 30! :-/ 

symptoms:

*back pain, tired, nausea and finally some contractions! 

sleep:

*not sleeping at all. I'm either to hot, up peeing, or up having contractions. blahh. 

movement:

*shes getting stronger and hurting her mama. 

cravings:

*nothin. I don't have a big appetite.

best moments this week:

*finding out my cousin is having a girl tooo! & that another cousin is prego(: so exciting! 

*being told by my dr I won't make it to my due date.

*dilated to a 3! 

*being told I can get induced September 12, 13 or 14 if I haven't had her yet! 

36weeeeeeks

*baby girl is still packing on the pounds – at the rate of about an ounce a day. she now weighs almost 6 pounds (like a crenshaw melon) and is more than 18 1/2 inches long.

*she is shedding most of the downy hair that covered her body, as well as the vernix caseosa – a waxy substance that protects the skin during its nine-month bath in amniotic fluid. she swallows these substances, along with other secretions, and they form a tar-like black substance called meconium which baby passes her first bowel movements.

*at the end of this week, baby girl will be considered full term. 

how far along:

*36 weeks.

*4 weeks to go. actually, my dr told me I won't make it to my due date. (: 

total weight gain:

*26 pounds. I gained 1 pound in 5 weeks...

symptoms:

*back pain 

*tired all the time 

*some more back pain

*& more sleepiness

 

sleep: 

*not the greatest, but I'm getting some. 

movement:

*shes still moving a lot. 

food cravings:

*still none.

*baby girl doesn't have much room to maneuver now. she is over 18 inches long and tips the scales at 5 1/4 pounds (pick up a honeydew melon)! because she is so snug in my womb, she isn't likely to be doing dramatic somersaults anymore. her kidneys are fully developed now, and her liver can process some waste products. basic physical development is now mostly complete – baby's main job over the next few weeks is to put on weight.

weight gain:

*been at 121 pounds for a while now. hope the little girl is still growing! 

symptoms:

*headaches. 

*tired. 

*sleepy. 

*backache. 

*all different kinds of pains. 

*did I say tired & sleepy?! 

sleep:

* pretty much not getting any. last night was the worst. little girl was on my bladder all night..I should of just slept on the toilet. jaden didn't want to sleep in his bed so he slept on the couch. well, he kept falling off of it. and finally decided to wake up at 6am.....it's nap time now. 

movement: 

*shes getting stronger. her kicks hurt this mama! 

food cravings:

*NONE. I don't have an appetite. I've got to make myself eat most of the time.

*my baby shower in Odessa Saturday. my cousins are hosting it and they have been keeping everything a secret. I can't wait to see what all they've done and what all baby girl got! 

best moments this week: 

*watching jaden test out all of baby sisters stuff to make sure it's all working for when she gets here. he can't wait to meet her! 

*getting to meet my nephew, Whaley finally. he's so precious. jaden loves his cousin. 

 I'm gonna have my hands full with a little boy & a baby girl. but I can't wait! 

thirty three weeks!

*this week baby girl weighs a little over 4 pounds (heft a pineapple) and has passed the 17-inch mark. she's rapidly losing that wrinkled, alien look and her skeleton is hardening. the bones in her skull aren't fused together, which allows them to move and slightly overlap, thus making it easier for her to fit through the birth canal. (The pressure on the head during birth is so intense that many babies are born with a conehead-like appearance.) <---no one told us this when we had jaden. mom & dad kinda freaked out! haha these bones don't entirely fuse until early adulthood, so they can grow as his brain and other tissue expands during infancy and childhood.

*our "staycation" thursday-sunday. we decided to hang out at the pool instead of going anywhere and dragging two pregos that have a month left to go!

*then moday & tuesday we are taking jaden to fossil rim and having a little mini vacation for the last time of a family of 3(;

*our baby shower saturday, it was fun getting little girl gifts!

*baby girl weighs 3.75 pounds (pick up a large jicama) and is about 16.7 inches long, taking up a lot of space. i'm gaining about a pound a week and roughly half of that goes right to little girl. In fact, she'll gain a third to half of her birth weight during the next 7 weeks as she fattens up for survival outside the womb. she now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair. her skin is becoming soft and smooth as she plumps up in preparation for birth

thirty-one weeks!

*this week, baby girl measures over 16 inches long. she weighs about 3.3 pounds- (i got an ultrasound thursday and little girl weighs 3.4 pounds! she's in the 49th percentile...wow! doc says if i make it to my due date she will be around 6pounds 10-12oz!) (try carrying four navel oranges) and is heading into a growth spurt. she can turn her head from side to side, and her arms, legs, and body are beginning to plump out as needed fat accumulates underneath her skin. she's probably moving a lot, too, so you may have trouble sleeping because your baby's kicks and somersaults keep you up. (<that is so true!) Take comfort: All this moving is a sign that your baby is active and healthy.

*around 22 pounds total.

symptoms:

*just very sleepy alllll the time.

*depends on the night. sometimes i sleep good..most of the time i don't.

*she moves the most at night and late morning. little night owl.

he tells pretty much everyone he sees he's gonna have a baby sister! (:

*baby girl's about 15.7 inches long now, and she weighs almost 3 pounds (like a head of cabbage). A pint and a half of amniotic fluid surrounds her, but that volume will decrease as she gets bigger and takes up more room. her eyesight continues to develop, though it's not very keen; even after she's born, she'll keep her eyes closed for a good part of the day. when she does open them, she'll respond to changes in light but will have 20/400 vision — which means she can only make out objects a few inches from her face.

weight gain:

*i weighed myself yesterday and i've gained nothing..we'll see what the doc says about that friday!

symptoms:

*HORRIBLE back pain! :-/

*very sleep in the afternoon. me and "big bro" go lay down and take a nap alot now.

for mothers day i got a 3D sonogram. they said it's best to have it done between 28-33 weeks, so i waited and i got to use my mothers day present yesterday!

i got this done when i was pregnant with jaden, even tho he wouldnt let us see him very well i loved being able to get to look at him! (:

i loved getting this sonogram! she posed for us and she was just so cute. i think she looks a lot like her daddy! she already has lots of hair...i hope shes got some curls to go with all that hair!

hello third trimester!

baby<3

*by this week, baby girl weighs 2 1/4 pounds (like a Chinese cabbage) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of the head to the heels.

she can blink her eyes, which now sport lashes. with increasingly developed eyesight, she may be able to see the light that filters in through my womb.
she's also developing billions of neurons in her brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world.

how far along:

*28 weeks!

my dr's appt. 

*i had my glucose test yesterday. I couldn't eat or drink anything after midnight. I had my appt. at 8:30am they were extremely busy so I didn't get out of there until 10:30. I about died & I never want to drink that stuff again. but everything's good with baby girl! only 12 weeks to go! my next appt. is July 13.

weight gain:

*I've gained about 22 pounds so far. crazy compared to my pregnancy with jaden. 

symptoms:

*I have been pretty exhausted. (I've even took a few naps this week. if you know me..I'm not a napper!) a whole lot more back pain.

sleep:

*I've actually been sleeping pretty good. once little girl stops kicking me for the night I'm out until the morning. it's actually pretty nice(: 

movement: 

*she's going to be pretty active like her big bro, I think! 

food cravings:

*i haven't really been craving anything here lately.

*girl. I had a dream that I went into labor and little baby girl came out as a boy. I have a 3D sono Saturday so we'll see (:

*saturday! I'm ready to see some more of baby(: I watched the video of the 3D sono I got with jaden. he said he was crying in mommy's tummy.

*picking up jaden from "meme" camp. he showed me what all he made and did. I'm glad he had so much fun with his cousins, memaw & great aunts! (: 

*getting to shop with michaela, my mom, aunt tracie & brother. we found some good things and GREAT prices!(:

*the network of nerves in your baby girls ears is better developed and more sensitive than before. she may now be able to hear both my voice and daddy's as you chat with each other. she's inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of her lungs. these so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when she's born and takes that first gulp of air. and she's continuing to put on baby fat. she now weighs about a pound and two-thirds and measures 14 inches (an English hothouse cucumber) from head to heel.

*this morning jaden said 'baby sister to come home" i said she wont be home until september. he asked "where is her?" i said she's in mommys tummy. he hugs my tummy and pats it. he's going to  such a good big brother!!

*head to heels, baby girl now measures about 13 1/2 inches. her weight – a pound and a half – isn't much more than an average rutabaga, but she is beginning to exchange that long, lean look for some baby fat. as this happens, wrinkled skin will smooth out and your she will start to look more and more like a newborn.

*baby girl is also growing more hair – and if you could see it, you'd now be able to discern its color and texture!

*a big 18 pounds so far! wowwww.

*the normal back pain. I wish it would go away(:

*baby girl is growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. that puts her at just over a pound. since she's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), she cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but her body is filling out proportionally and she'll soon start to plump up. her brain is also growing quickly now, and her taste buds are continuing to develop. her lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help her air sacs inflate once she hits the outside world. her skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.

weight gain:
*i'm not sure. next tuesday i'll find out.

symptoms:
*still just the normal back pain. some sleeepyness during the day.

*lets just say i need to buy some more pillows(;

*she's more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound (about as much as a large mango), you may be able to see her squirm underneath your clothes--yep, shes a squirmer! blood vessels in her lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and her hearing is becoming more keen. baby's cochlea - the inner ear mechanism that houses all components of hearing - is fully formed. so she can hear what i hear, but not at the same level. (sounds and voices are muffled by the muscles and tissue around the placenta, and the amniotic fluid.)

symptoms:

*very tired, i dont have energry like i did a few weeks ago...bummer. havent felt nauseated ANY! -YES! ohhhh my poor back. last night it hurt soooooooooo bad!

*i havent went totally into maternity clothes, but dresses are my new best friend! (:

*sleeping ok but not great.

movement:

*she moves alot! shes kicking me right now...shhh don't tell my mom, shes right beside me. if she looked she could see my belly moving (;

*At 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound, baby girl is starting to look like a miniature newborn. her lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and she's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. her eyes have formed.

*if you could see inside your, you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers her body and the deep wrinkles on her skin, which she'll sport until she adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside her belly, the pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily

*22 weeks.

symptoms:

*back pains been pretty bad here lately.

sleep:

*so so. not great but not horrible.

movement:

*she's moving a lot! she's most active late morning and in the middle of the night. ive read that when baby's most active in the womb, thats when baby will be most active when born. i don't remember what jaden did...i sure hope she's not a night owl. momma wont be a very happy camper! :(

food cravings:

*sweets, mash potatoes and cereal.

*baby girl now weighs about three-quarters of a pound and is approximately 10 1/2 inches long — the length of a carrot.  baby's eyebrows and lids are present now. she's also kicking up a storm! (:

*21 weeks!!

*i haven't weighed myself this week.

symptoms:
*just the normal back pain!

sleep:
*sleeping hasnt been very good this week!

food cravings:
*sweet, cereal, mash potatoes.

*she was moving around a lot when we had the sonogram. her arms are above her head (like big brother was) she's healthy as can be!!! (:

*baby girl weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now. she is around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel – the length of a banana. (For the first 20 weeks, when a baby's legs are curled up against her torso and hard to measure,measurements are taken "crown to rump" – from the top of the head to your baby's bottom.)

*she is swallowing more these days, which is good practice for the digestive system.

*not so much nausea BUT I have thrown up twice this week :P

Daddy, big brother Jaden, Grandma, MeMaw and aunt Hannah all cramped in a little room to find out the gender of this sweet baby! Jaden was so fun to watch! he got so excited about being apart of this experience (I liked watching him more than looking at the screen!) we can't wait for September!

*baby's sensory development is exploding! his or her brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. 

*baby weighs about 8 1/2 ounces and measures 6 inches, head to bottom –about the size of a large heirloom tomato. the arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of the body now.
*baby's kidneys continue to make urine and the hair on his or her scalp is sprouting. a waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on the skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid.

*19weeks!

weight gain:

*a big whopping total of 13pounds. I know that's really good, but it's kinda freakin me out!! 

symptoms 

*still have nausea in the mornings. back is always hurting, but I'm pretty thankful that I haven't vomited in a LONG TIME! (:

maternity clothes:

*I wear mostly maternity shorts. I have a few summer shirts and dresses from last year that I'll be able to wear for a while (; 

sleep:

*sleeping is still pretty hard, I can I deal with it (:

movement

*baby's moving like crazy. daddy still hasn't felt him/her move. he/she will stop moving when he puts his hand on my tummy. he says it's a girl and she saying "don't touch me"!! if it is a girl hopefully she won't start that this early! 

food cravings:

*do I even have to fill the question out? I don't think it'll ever change! sweeeeets! I have a new fav candy, it's the jolly ranchers that start out hard but in the middle they are chewy. yum!

*Head to rump, baby is about 5 1/2 inches long (about the length of a bell pepper) and weighs almost 7 ounces. she or he is busy flexing arms and legs. 

*baby's blood vessels are visible through thin skin, and his or her ears are now in their final position, although they're still standing out from the head a bit. a protective covering of myelin is beginning to form around his or her nerves, a process that will continue for a year after baby is born.

*If I'm having a girl, her uterus and fallopian tubes are formed and in place. If i'm having a boy, his genitals are noticeable now, but he may hide them from you during an ultrasound - he better not!!

seventeen weeeeks!

*baby's skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord – baby's lifeline to the placenta – is growing stronger and thicker.

*baby weighs 5 ounces now (about as much as a turnip) and is around 5 inches long from head to bottom. baby can move his or her joints, and sweat glands are starting to develop.

maternity clothes:

*been shopping for some clothes. I'm just in that awkward stage were my regular clothes don't fit & maternity clothes are a little big...so if you see in out in clothes that don't fit that well...you know why! (; 

*I never had this problem when I was pregnant with jaden. I could wear my normal clothes until the very end of my pregnancy! it blows my mind how my body's growing so much faster this time around!

*Jaden talks to baby at least one time a day. it melts my heart! he's going to be such a good big brother!

16weeeeeeks.

*get ready for a growth spurt. in the next few weeks, baby will double his or her weight and add inches to his or her length. right now, he's about the size of an avocado: 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces.

*baby's legs are much more developed, his or her head is more erect than it has been, and his or her eyes have moved closer to the front of his head. baby's ears are close to their final position, too. the patterning of his scalp has begun, though his locks aren't recognizable yet. baby's even started growing toenails.

*and there's a lot happening inside as well. for example, baby's heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as baby continues to develop.

*16 weeks!!!

symptoms:

*a little nausea here and there. it's gotten harder and harder to take my prenatal vitamin!

maternity clothes:

*i need to go shopping! all i have is long sleeve shirts!

*still not to great. oh well, at least i'm getting used to no sleep (;

*last night baby was throwing a fit. (already learning from big brother) it felt like baby was just kicking his feet up and down.

15 weeks!

*growing baby now measures about 4 inches long, crown to rump, and weighs in at about 2 1/2 ounces (about the size of an apple). he or she is busy moving amniotic fluid through the nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in the lungs begin to develop. baby's legs are growing longer than his or her arms now, and he or she can move all those tiny joints and limbs.

*although baby's eyelids are still fused shut, he or she can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at my tummy, for instance, your baby is likely to move away from the beam. there's not much for baby to taste at this point, but taste buds are forming.

hello second trimester!

I'm in my pj's,  so what!

*this week's big developments: baby can now squint, frown, grimace and pee.

*thanks to brain impulses, baby's facial muscles are getting a workout as tiny features form one expression after another. the kidneys are producing urine, which baby releases into the amniotic fluid around him or her (this continues until birth).

*in other news: baby's stretching out. from head to bottom, he or she measures 3 1/2 inches – about the size of a lemon – and weighs 1 1/2 ounces. the body's growing faster than the head, which now sits upon a more distinct neck. By the end of this week, baby's arms will have grown to a length that's in proportion to the rest of his or her body. (The legs still have some lengthening to do.) and baby's starting to develop an ultra-fine, downy layer of hair, called lanugo, that covers the body.

*baby's liver starts making bile this week – a sign that it's doing its job right – and the spleen starts helping in the production of red blood cells. little one's hands and feet (which now measure about half an inch long) are more flexible and active.

* I haven't weighted myself this week. 

symptoms:

* little bit of nausea still, but it's gotten better. 

* NO THROWING UP THIS WEEK! yeah!

* none yet. it's just mostly workout shorts and a t shirt for me! (:

* I'm sleeping horrible! :-/ I hardly get any sleep anymore.

* call me crazy. yes, I've felt movement. NO! IT'S NOT GAS! I know it's my sweet baby kicking :D
